Our digital world
In our day of cameras everywhere, take the time to set up a backup plan. There is nothing worse than the phone dropping in water or hitting the ground so hard it won't start, and that first feeling of, " My life was on that". Most of our plans now have cloud backups for contacts and basic phone information, but what about those photos. If you are not paying for extra space, then they are gone!
What do we use?
For our personal photographs and phone images, we use the go-to Google Photos. Google Photos is part of your Google Suite. If you are an Android user, you most likely already have it, just don't know it. Google photos can be free, with unlimited space for images saved at 16 megapixels or less, which is plenty big enough for personal use. Google Photos can be set to auto backup anything taken, swiped or messaged to your phone, automatically. You can also set it up to back up specific folders on your computer desktops! Google Photos has taken over the work of "Picasa" an old google standby. Images can be sorted by date, location, and even face recognition that will blow you away. While the connection to IOS devices may not be automatic, it isn't hard to get going on them as well and keep all your cloud photographs in one place. There are plenty of other options available, many require a fee as well. Why Google Photos. It works!
For everything else, we do pay and highly recommend BackBlaze. Backblaze is automatic or scheduled. it can do a full computer backup, every file! Include all full-sized photographs. Back Blaze is not a mirror image of your drive(s) but backups of everything on it. As most backups, it will not back up your OS or your set up, however, it saves those files you can not replace.
What is holding you back, don't be part of the "Forgotten Generation" Start that back up now!!!
